performance starts from a piece of music for inspiration. Once the concept for a new routine is
established, the real work begins. The first step is choreography. Our coach and senior team
members carefully craft each move, ensuring that the routine showcases the team’s strengths
while challenging them to grow. This process involves countless hours of planning, testing, and
refining.
As the choreography comes together, the team begins practicing. In the early stages, rehearsals
can be tough. It’s not uncommon for the Twirlers to spend hours perfecting a single sequence,
making sure every twirl, toss, and step is in perfect harmony. The team’s commitment to

Carlisle, St Mary’s Star of the Sea’s church hall and the Broomgrove Community Centre—the
atmosphere is a mix of excitement and nerves. The Twirlers huddle together for a final pep talk,
reminding each other of the hard work that has brought them to this moment. When they take to
the streets, the audience sees a polished, seamless performance, but the Twirlers know that the
true victory lies in the journey they’ve taken together to reach this point.
